The PADI Peak Performance Buoyancy Specialty Course builds upon what you have learned about Buoyancy Control as a new diver and will take these skills to the next level. If you have seen your Instructor hovering nearly motionless before and want to reach the same level, then this Specialty is a must-do.

In this PADI Specialty course you will find out the real amounts of weights you need, how to position those to adjust for your personal trim. You will learn to use breathing techniques to hover motionless in any position and streamline yourself perfectly to not disturb the underwater world.

No matter if you are an underwater photographer, enjoy watching marine life or want to dive into wrecks or caves – buoyancy control is what you need to get perfect!

Mastering buoyancy control will not only make your dives more relaxed, you use less air and get closer to what you want to see underwater!

Part 1: Theory

We start with an introduction between you and your Instructor and you will complete the necessary paperwork.

The theoretical part of your PADI Peak Performance Buoyancy Diver Specialty Course is covered by some self-study with your personal copy of the PADI manual and 2 Knowledge Reviews. You will get plenty of time to self-study and work out the amount of weight you should take on a given dive.

Together with your Instructor, you will then talk about weight adjustment and distribution based on the water, different visualization techniques you can use as well as breathing patterns.

Alternatively, or on top we may do a little buoyancy clinic in our swimming pool depending on how you are feeling with your buoyancy skills at this stage. We always find time to add this, if it makes your dives even more successful.

Part 2: Open Water Dives

then it is time for us to get on our custom built dive boat and head out for one or two dives (depending on your chosen option).

The first dive will have a strong focus on perfecting the amount of weights you carry with you to prevent drag due to too much weight and help you to streamline yourself. You will already practice on hovering in different positions and stand completely still when surrounded by marine life.

The second dive will be used to perfect your trim, the hovers you practiced before and your finning techniques to avoid disturbing any marine life and conserve air.

On both these dives there will be some buoyancy games you and your Instructor will play, to make you a diver with perfect buoyancy.

After your dives, we will add the information about your perfect weight with the suit of your choice and the salinity of the water in your dive log book and you will be a certified PADI Peak Performance Buoyancy Specialty Diver!
